3 Steps to Get a Job as a Junior With No Experience

Times are difficult to find a job.

Even harder when you have no experience.

I’ve interviewed a lot of Junior developers. And here are the 3 main points that make me decide to hire the developer or not.

Don’t Beg

Companies don’t hire for charity. They hire for their interest.

Don’t beg for a job, show you’re an investment, show you will give value to the company.

The company is not your family. You will be a worker.

Begging for a job shows instability in the personality.

You must show a strong personality.

Record Yourself to Train the Interview

The interview is a very critical moment. I’ve seen developers in the first interview who were such stressed that they couldn’t even answer simple questions.

Recording yourself to practice for the interview can help you work on your tone, volume, and the stories you want to share during the interview.

The tone, the volume and the story will determine if you will get the job or not.

The tone must show a stable voice.

The volume must be high enough to not seem shy.

And the story must be attractive. The story must show an adversity you faced and you overcome.

Show you’re Organized and Independent

When you have no experience, the only good point to show is that you won’t waste their time.

A Junior requires a lot of effort from the Company to train him/her, to teach him/her the project and operations.

Show you’re organized, that you take notes and don’t ask the same thing 4 or 5 times.

Show you’re independent, that you know the main lines of how to work, but you will always validate your work to make sure it’s good enough.

Conclusion

The CV will be all similar for Junior developers. As all the Junior developers has few work experiences.

So, the decision will be made on the feeling during the interview.
